Hydrogeology and Geothermal Energy Research Group

Research Team Leader: Dr. János Szanyi

The research team is involved in a number of activities related to hydrogeological and geothermal research, such as planning and carrying out field work and organising a geothermal database. We coordinate or participate as experts in national and international geothermal projects dealing with transboundary aquifers. Our main field of research is the sustainable and efficient exploitation of geothermal energy, including reinjection. We are also involved in innovative, novel research, such as investigating the potential applications of high-power lasers in downhole conditions.
