Boros J, Suhai F: Angaben über Bodentemperaturen in Baumwolle- und Hanf-Beständen

Summary: The Climatological Institute of the University Szeged undertook in the course of the year 1953 at a locality called Szekkutas some microclimatological investigations in cotton and hemp crops. From a series of soil temperature observations which extends to the growing period of hemp, five-day average values have been selected according to the characteristical phenological periods of the development of the hemp crop; and on this basis, we investigated the extreme values and the daily variation of soil temperatures at different depths.

In the course of the investigations concerning the cotton crop, it has been demonstrated that soil temperatures in the cotton crop are exhibiting the most discrepancy from soil temperatures at a free location during the fornoon and during the afternoon.

On the basis of soil temperature data of the cotton crop it has been demonstrated that, from the end of June, the crop is possessing a so-called dependent climate and we assumed, in accordance with similar measurements of other authors, that climate is depending on the crop density.

We investigated as well soil temperatures after the cutting of the hemp crop.
