Summary: On the basis of her own investigations and various publications concerning the differentiation of typical units of the meso- and microclimatic conditions the author tries to determine the usefulness of the different chief indicators for this purpose. She concentrates her attention on the possibility of using the length of the frost-free period, the mean minimal temperatures and the mean diurnal variation of the temperature for the purposes of mesoclimatic typology. For a simultaneous representation of the meso- and microclimatic conditions in the Carpathians the most suitable criterion is the mean diurnal variation of the temperature of longer or shorter research periods.
